I am
lucky enough to have a very successful dental practice and a
vigorous growing dental office design business. When we decided
to begin increasing our exposure it made sense to enhance our
abilities with coaching. Our staff was somewhat skeptical
however, given Lorraine's excellent reputation, they agreed to a
limited program of study - boy was everybody shocked!
Lorraine knows what we don't - what motivates people at all
levels. She knows how to get in the heads of her students in a
non threatening way and, as a result, help us to be better
listeners. I now am sure that we will be working with Lorraine
for years to come. She is a fountain of wisdom concerning what
motivates buyers and how to make that happen.
Sincerely,
David J. Ahearn, DDS

"We
purchased a practice from a senior dentist who retired 3 years
ago. Kathryn and I have been working together for 10 years. We
have 2 doctors, 4 hygienists, 5 dental assistants and 4
professional office staff. We had the privilege of working with
Lorraine Guth during the past 6 months and had her in our office
3 weeks ago to do some on-site teaching and consulting. The
experience was very positive and has already provided great
opportunities for growth by all of our team members. You will
find it amazing how the opening the doors of communication are
the entry way into many areas of whole office improvement!
Communication between patients and office staff, providers and
patients and managers and office staff will all be enhanced. We
have found Lorraine to be not only very thorough in her
preparation, but also in her implementation and follow-up on the
project. I would highly recommend her to any dental office
without reservation. She is meeting a great need in our
profession by enabling us to create the kind of relationships
which allow us to provide the highest quality care to our
patients".
We have also had the opportunity to work with other consultants
in the past and had some disappointments. This experience was
much more productive and positive. All of our staff thought so
as well.

"Lorraine’s experience and ability to understand human
communications and translate those skills to both myself and my
team members has increased our productivity. My stress level has
lowered and she has brought a level of enjoyment back to my work
that has been missing for years. We are happier and more
effective, and our patients feel better about the dentistry we
provide".

"I would highly recommend Lorraine Guth. I have much of her art
work hanging in my office and feel like it sends a great message
to all who read it. The message is classy and subtle".
I have also had Lorraine do a presentation for my office and
would give it very high marks for effectiveness. Lorraine has
worked in a dental office, so she understands how things work -
she's not like so many of the "experts" out there that really
have no idea how a "real" dental practice actually operates. Her
suggestions were insightful and helpful, which is the true value
of someone who refers to them self as a consultant.

"Lorraine’s information gave me and my team new ways to think
about reaching our patients. She taught us how to make our
patients curious about dentistry, so they would be more
interested in learning about the solutions we have to offer.
Better yet, we are spending less time talking about dentistry
and doing more of it. This training is one of the more valuable
investments I have made since opening my practice. I know for a
fact that every practice could benefit from Lorraine's
training".

"You
have taught us to listen to our patients and draw out their
wants and desires for their dental health. I can quote a number
of patients who proceeded with everything from a root canal to
large treatment plans that I am certain would have avoided
treatment prior to employing the proper verbal skills. Even more
importantly, these patients are referring others. I love what I
do as a dentist, but I don’t get to do any of it until the
patient says “yes”!
Carl Jenkins, DDS
Public Information Officer/Director
Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry
"I have
had a number of different consultants over the years, but your
program was truly unique. In the many hours of continuing
education over the last 20 years, had never found an authority
on “verbal skills”. These newly found skills are something my
staff and I use every day. I highly recommend Lorraine to any
doctor who is smart enough to realize that the ability to
effectively communicate is the most important thing you can do
to build your practice".
Drew Shulman, DMD, FAGD
"As the
new owner of a 25 year old practice, I faced several challenges
during the transition. Lorraine’s enthusiastic instruction in
effective communication, both with patients and staff members,
has been invaluable! She has helped me become a more proactive
leader in motivating my team".

I have heard nothing but raving comments regarding your
lecture. Your knowledge of the subject matter was great.
Your excitement in presenting that knowledge to us really
made everyone fell equally excited while absorbing the
information. We will be using your information to hone our
skills for the betterment of our patients.

I want to personally thank you for taking out the time to
come to West Virginia and be a speaker at the WVAGD Fall
Seminar Series. The reviews we received were excellent. Your
presentation was clear, concise, and informative. The
information you presented was factual and practical. The
attendees related to it very well. They especially enjoyed
the “situation clips” that you projected. The WVAGD is
definitely planning to have you back soon for a more
detailed presentation.

"Lorraine’s approach took us beyond scripted words to systems
of conversation that work for each of us in our own way. Her
speaking style brings fun and laughter to the learning
experience. You leave with real tools that fit into a
dentist’s busy practice, and are easy to incorporate. Most
importantly, she gives real insight into what our patients
are thinking while we are diagnosing dentistry".

"Lorraine's presentation is very informative, as well as
entertaining. Her lectures are full of excitement and

“Lorraine Guth delivers a powerful message about
communication skills in the professional and personal
environments. She also addresses the importance of image and
its effect on consumer decision making. Lorraine’s role
playing during her presentation sends a memorable message to
all her attendees. You will enjoy Lorraine’s “Show Me”
style.”

"As a
professor of marketing at Illinois Institute of Technology, I
was both fascinated and impressed, during a recent trip to my
dentist, by the Motivations by Mouth posters newly hung in the
exam room. After my appointment I went to the Motivations by
Mouth web site and viewed a variety of materials -- all of which
show a tremendous understanding of the true nature of consumer
behavior.
Many firms use what are called "aspirational" messages and
images when marketing products and services. This can be
effective if it taps into consumers' sense of who they want to
be. But, aspirational marketing is sometimes unrealistic -- the
aspirational images and messages are too far from the consumer's
grasp and the approach doesn't have the desired impact.
Motivations by Mouth has done an excellent job of coupling
images and messages that speak to consumers in an aspirational,
yet achievable, way: they connect.
I am guessing that practitioners who have used Motivations by
Mouth materials have found them effective in promoting the
benefits of cosmetic dentistry and other procedures. I believe
that many dental patients cannot connect with the perfect teeth
and perfect bodies they see in most ads and brochures for
cosmetic dentistry. Motivations by Mouth materials, in contrast,
meet patients "where they're at."
Professor Suzanne Mueller
Associate Director for Administration, Undergraduate Programs
Stuart School of Business

"I was introduced to Motivations by Mouth at the Oklahoma
State Dental Meeting in 2006. The first photograph to catch
my eye was the one donated by Lorraine to the ADPAC Silent
Auction. Of course, I had to bid on it. I already knew where
it would hang in our office! Then, when I visited her booth,
I was completely blown away by the beautiful, realistic
photographs on display. This was what I wanted in my
office…not some fake smile on a runway model, but a real
person, just like the people we treat everyday".
We now have seven photographs hanging in our office. The
staff and patients love them, often asking if the people in
the pictures are related to us! The messages present a
perfect opportunity to discuss changing their smile.

"When a dentist referred me to Lorraine Guth's Motivations
by Mouth website, I was very impressed to say the least.
Most of the marketing postcards, wall art, and direct mail
pieces focus on the perfect cosmetically enhanced smiles.
While these are GOOD products, there's a huge segment of the
population (patients and dentists) who are driven more by
health and function benefits, not just the Hollywood smile
of wall to wall porcelain".
"In their carefully researched images for the "masses, not
just the classes", Motivations by Mouth captures the whole
patient health philosophy. These are REAL PEOPLE in REAL
LIFE SITUATIONS looking for quality care versus the perfect
pearly whites to which some people do not relate. In
marketing, there is not a one size fits all. In my opinion,
Motivations by Mouth has filled a huge need by appealing to
70% of the patient/dentist population of ordinary folks
looking for extraordinary results, not unrealistic standards
of perfection. Besides that, Lorraine is a joy to work
with."

"As
a Psychologist-In-Training and a Licensed Professional
Counselor, I look at why people engage in some activities
and not others. In my wife's dental practice I have found
that patients are more compliant and aggressive with their
care when they are motivated to reach a goal rather than
avoid something unpleasant. No one likes to look at a
picture of "rot mouth" and feel guilty or worry that it will
happen to them. People want to see what they can achieve and
what that achievement means to them. Positive images help
patients to link happiness, relationships, and hope with
their immediate dental care".
